Frequently asked questions

We try our best to answer all the many Facebook messages, emails and phone calls but sometimes it can take us a bit of time to get back to you. Please take a look at the frequently asked questions we get below to save time.

How do I donate my household goods?

To donate your household goods please call or text 0800 1114519 to arrange a drop-off or pick up. Alternatively, fill in our Online Form

I have a sofa but it doesn’t have fire labels on it. Can I still donate it?

Unfortunately, we cannot give away any sofas, armchairs or beds without fire labels on them as it is illegal to do so.

Do you also take clothes and shoes?

We do. However, due to a very high number of clothes and shoes donations, we won’t be able to take in any more for this year. Please see our most urgent needs on our projects page.

Can I donate a bed or mattress?

For quality and safety reasons, Nested can only collect beds, bed bases or mattresses that are clean, not stained and must have a valid fire safety label.

Can I donate electrical items?

Electrical items for example fridge freezers, cookers, washing machines, and other electrical appliances can be taken and are urgently needed. However, they must be in clean and full working order and will be PAT tested at your address when collecting. Please note if they fail PAT tests they cannot be taken.

I’d really like to get involved in Nested’s work. What can I do to help?

Thank you so much for wanting to be a part of our community. We have a number of projects that need our urgent attention and we would be very grateful for your generosity. Please visit Get Involved here.

Are you a registered charity?

Yes. We are proud to have been a registered charity and would like to thank everyone who has shown their support within our community. It’s what keeps us going as an organisation and to extend our reach to the people who need it most. Nested is a registered charity in England and Wales. Charity number: 1180416
