Our Social Worker

Nested believe that one of the most effective ways to safeguard and individual or family is to ensure their long term safety. We offer ongoing support to survivors of domestic abuse.

Support is our priority

The support we offer to survivors of Domestic Abuse is increasing.

We offer Support with:

• Benefit advice
• Help and support with housing issues
• Emotional support
• Signposting and referrals to specialist agencies
• Weekly drop ins (for short term informal support advice)
• Key workers (offering longer term support for individuals)

Did you know that leaving an abusive relationship is one of the most dangerous times for an individual and (equation 2014) estimate that 75% of domestic violence homicides happen post separation.

Many survivors face significant barriers to independent living.

These can include:

• Being isolated
• Not being aware of local support available to them
• Having low confidence and self doubt
• Feeling unable to leave due to fear of the response from agencies/family or friends
• Financial dependence

Nested support families and individuals who have fled domestic violence by providing them with household goods and furnishings that enables them to turn their houses into homes.

But the support doesn’t end there. We believe that one of the most effective ways to safeguard and individual or family is to ensure their long term safety. We offer ongoing support to survivors of domestic abuse.

The support we provide will vary depending on the individual and what their needs are but can include:

• Benefit advice
• Help and support with housing issues
• Emotional support
• Signposting and referrals to specialist agencies

We offer this support in different ways. By providing one off information sessions for survivors on either a 1:1 basis or at our weekly drop in clinics. We also offer survivors the opportunity to receive ongoing support. We are able to assign a key worker for those individuals who need more support to become independent. The service we provide is confidential and the safety and welfare of the people we work with is always paramount. The support is delivered by volunteer caseworkers for individuals with low/medium needs.

The caseworkers receive regular training and supervision by Nested’s qualified social worker. Our social worker also provides support to individuals with more complex needs. Together we aim to make a positive difference to many individuals and families that have suffered domestic violence.
