Survivors Support & Strengthen Eachother

My name is Britney. I was a victim of Domestic Abuse. One night I was brutally attacked by my partner, the father of our daughter. He left me fighting for my life. The injuries i sustained that night was so severe, my little girl almost lost her mummy and my family and friends almost lost me.

Since then I’ve undergone several surgeries and procedures, rectifying the damage that was caused. I’m very lucky to have an amazing family and friends who have been so supportive to me and if i didn’t have them I honestly don’t know what I would have done or how I would have got through these months.

I have since overcome and learnt so much. I still do have the bad days with lots of unanswered questions and thoughts going through my head but I don’t let the thoughts control me anymore and I won’t allow anything to control me ever again. Every day is a new day, a new beginning, with different chances opportunities and every day I’m growing stronger.

Sheffield survivor reveals horrific injuries in heartfelt plea for domestic abuse charity

A Sheffield charity has issued an urgent appeal for help for survivors of domestic abuse.

“Things have got so bad for us at Nested (formally Rehouse to Rehome) because so many people are reaching out to us for help and it’s so difficult to keep up.

“Yes there’s lots of domestic abuse organisations and loads of places people can call or apply to for help, but that doesn’t mean help is always available to everyone. If so why do so many people need our help?…Read more

I’ve had time to help me recover and heal from the violence and abuse I suffered and now I’m no longer the victim. I’m no longer that person. I’m a survivor and I know the value of life. I know what it feels like to be in a relationship that’s abusive and the consequences of what being in a abusive relationship can have.

I want to share my experiences with other people who are in abusive relationships and others that have fled abuse to support them in any way possible by also offering them my friendship and letting them know that they’re not alone, despite what they have been told….They do have a way out.

Francine who founded Nested is one of my oldest friends, and without any doubt the things I’ve seen and heard her do, have motivated and inspired me so much.  Some situations I’ve witnessed whilst volunteering my time with Nested have shocked and saddened me, and this has given me so much determination to do more for the people and families who are victims and survivors of domestic abuse.

My personal experiences combined with my current studies, will hopefully give me a greater insight and understanding about abusive behaviours and relationships which I’ll then pass on to others.

I always have a listening ear and I’ll provide you with all the support I can. I will be offering people who are witnessing abuse and those who have fled abusive relationships, support, encouragement and friendship through 1:1 chats and our support groups.

Together we will strengthen and empower each other.

See you all soon,

Britney.
